A native of New Orleans, Fran Gervais spent her summers in Bay St. Louis as a child at the family beach house. Black-eyed Susan among the Roses: A New Orleans Memoir is her first published novel, written in the setting of both New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Her story begins with a traumatic event at age 18, with her entire childhood recollected in flashbacks, and returns to that experience with the conclusion. Fran is in the process of writing a collection of short, short stories and prose poetry. She recently entered a short story contest sponsored by the Writers Digest with Bluebird in Pearl River. Fran is a member of the Louisiana Authors Group and a participant in this year’s New Orleans Book Festival. She introduced her novel to Bay St. Louis at the Annual Crab Fest this past summer along with her sister, Barbara Manix, graphic arts illustrator and former longtime resident of Waveland, Mississippi. Fran lives in Pearl River, Louisiana.
